Very low economy

Hi.... I have an 2.0 TDI multitonic, and I’ve started getting really low performance from it.

It’s recently had a service and a carbon clean to try and help it, but nothing has fixed it. I’m getting about an average of 20mpg !

£20 doesn’t even get me 100 miles.

Has anyone had this, and can think of anything that would cause it ?

Even on a long drive I don’t get more than 38mpg average.

It’s getting depressing now

No nothing. They checked on service and on carbon clean and nothing was reported.

Thermostat , boost leak , egr etc are things to investigate .

What sort of journeys to you do, miles / speed / stop start ?

Does the coolant temp get to 90 within 5 miles & stay there ?

The ambiant temperature & winter diesel at this time of year doesn't help either.

No odd smells like brakes binding a bit? Or hot wheels after a long run? Does the exhaust emission look healthy if someone is following you?
