A3 CAYC 1.6Tdi Starts then stops after a few seconds - brake fault

A3 CAYC 1.6Tdi starts then stops after a few seconds - it shows a brake fault on the dash but when scanned with VCDS there are no errors.

Further investigation shows fault code for "Speed Encoder Errors 65535" on front right, front left, rear right and rear left if that has any relevance.

I disconnected the engine boost control valve so that fault isnt an issue. I also tried switching off stop/start but that didnt change anything. The ESP/ABS and handbrake warning light would flash as well when it wont start.

Yes sure have thanks Crasher. It broke down the day before, just stopped on the road. Its a EA189 car with the software update done. Would a failed EGR valve be responsible?

An immobiliser fault will not stop it when running, a low battery voltage will, giving it a 14.65v spike last night at 9.33pm could have upset the dash.

Apologies, I was reading my original post and I didnt mention that it stopped on the road altogether prior to this fault where it will now only run for a few seconds (poorly) before cutting out. There was no problem until it stopped and now it is doing everything I mentioned before. Could it still be the battery?

That doesn't sound like the immobilser cutting the engine out, are you seeing no relevant fault codes still? You you have a multimeter so you can check the battery voltage? If it is the battery it should run on the booster pack and cut when that is disconnected.
