    I tried it with a set of jump leads attached and also with another new battery with no luck. There are no fault codes at all on VCDS. Very strange.

    No immobilser warning light or "Safe" text in the trip mileage recorder? Have you checked the fuel filter is full and run both electric fuel pumps to ensure they work and they are delivering fuel to the HPFP? Have you had the connections off the top of the fuel tank fuel delivery unit?

    Thanks Crasher, definitely no SAFE on the dash. Fuel filter full and will check the pumps tomorrow. Will also have a look at the fuel tank delivery unit too. Thanks again.

    How many miles are on your golf? Also what year is it? Did you get a scan done? I suspect it’s an EA189 car?

    The customer didn’t want to spend any money having it looked it, so took it away and sold it cheap as a non runner. I don’t know what happened to it and I’ve not seen the fault appear anywhere in other cars since. First thing I would do is change the Egr valve and see what happens.
