ok i have run a double shot of turbo cleaner through it and while sure its done no harm its not changed anything. i took it for a good 200 mile run and while the turbo feels strong during normal driving its still almost non existent in 1st gear. in first gear the car pulls normal from say 1000 - 1500 rpm ,then the power disappears and comes back about 2500-3000 "sometimes "while in 1st gear - but once in 2nd gear and upwards all is fine and normal - ideas ?
what sort of actuator is on these cars ? is there a spring on there ? vacuum / what is it ?

for the record what model/make of turbo is fitted on the 2015 190 hp passat ?

Pondering on the poor response and wonder if not many own a 190 or don't know or can't be bothered to respond, there does seem to be a complete absence of banter on this forum.

My suspicion is ‘don’t know’ especially as I would imagine few owners have actually driven me back to back with a 150 (which I have). There is some quite healthy discussion on the briskoda forum Superb section around this and from what I can gather speaking to somebody who knows what he is talking about the 190 has a bigger turbo and this does make it a little more sluggish at lower revs (as you’d imagine it requires more exhaust gasses to spool-up).

A few owners who’ve moved from the euro 5 cars (notably those in the 170ps-ish Range) seem to note it’s a little sluggish too. The only people I can see who are really happy are the Tiguan owners (I am guessing they have slightly shorter gearing and let’s face it a brick on wheels isn’t bought for outright performance).

The reality is that 190PS and Euro 6 emissions are probably at the edge of what a single turbo 2.0 diesel can achieve - Mercedes have recently replaced their diesel units and 190PS requires a twin turbo set-up.

Thank you, I am becoming inclined to agree with what you say, and another poster who said a remapped 140 would be more linier, and again I agree, what I'm trying to establish is, is what I experience normal or do I have a fault.. And I'm thinking a bit of both, I think my recently bought hi miler is a bit clogged as its a bit livlier now it's had a few Italian tuneups but the nothing nothing whooh feeling is the norm and I'm wondering if a remap might help

I certainly don’t remember any ‘whooh’ feeling, no sense of driveshaft bending going on or anything of the sort. It didn’t feel like it had nearly 190 horses!

It's not unusual for boost to be limited in 1st gear to mitigate against gearbox stress and torque steer issues, maybe this is the case and they haven't made a great job of it on the 190?

oh well, im getting used to it now i suppose, my initial concern was is it faulty .. i am now of the opinion its not, just very laggy, but maybe i will find someone with a 190 to compare it with.

Try running first gear with the traction control off if it can be turned off see if it changes that can rules some issues out as it shouldn’t be limited with it turned off.
