I read the article on heat on side, I have no heat on either side.
I had it in the garage today, they didnt seem too confident and said it was probably the mechanical water pump - apparently there is an electric one also.
So if the temp gauge gets to 90 and stays there - even on tick over etc it just doesnt budge I am ont convinced it is the water pump.
Does anyone know where the water feeds from the engine, what valves it passes through and what flaps there are ?
Any ideas on the problem anyone or any links to look at ? I've search the interweb and cant find anything

I cant think it's the water pump- or at least not the main, mechanical coolant, water pump.

What has changed for you now to get heat from the right hand side of the heater, what work was carried out ?

Try now swapping the left and right hand side temperature sensors over (they are just behind the left and right vents each side). If the right now stays cold and the left heats up then its a dodgy sensor.

Have you checked for fault codes with a VAG Com (or similar) ?

Try flushing the system out as described in the other thread and check for any improvement. (You only need an hour and access to a hose pipe, some pliers for the hose clip)
