    Hi all,

We've just popped back from Audi as it is down the road from us and booked the car in for next week but until it goes in, I thought it would be worth asking the question on here.

    We have a 2010 Audi A3 8P-AU35 (8P0) 1.4 TFSi (CAXC engine code)
Been a pretty solid car hence the 0 questions on the A3 board until around July/August. Earlier on, we got the engine management light flashing and the usual juddering/limp mode kicked in.
Switched off, plugged laptop in and got an error with Cylinder Misfire on Number 2.
Switched back on and it had gone...we did not get anything back on it so ignored it and thought nothing of it. Fast forward to last month, it had a minor service at the dealership, no issues found and again, ignored the issue every happened.

Last night, it happened again minutes after leaving the house where the engine was semi-warmed up having just done a 2 mile round-trip.
Again as we were near the house, plugged laptop in and got the following errors. So what are your thoughts? Simple case of coil packs? I am reading various threads about a recall on coils but not much information on the nuts and bolts of it -
Stupidly (my bad!) I cleared the codes last night just because of habit more than anything and typically not only did it not happen today, but obviously when the car does go into Audi, there would be no errors stored although they're happy with my VCDS printout.

Happy to tell them to replace all 4 regardless as they should still be the originals and the car has done 71k now on them but thought I would hear some thoughts first.

    Thanks in advance

The cylinder disabling P130A is a reaction of the ECU to unburt air in the exhaust gases. Using the crank angle firing speed and engine position sensing, it can also tell which cylinder is at fault and then shut down the relevant injector to prevent unburnt fuel getting into the catalyst which increases emissions and can easily burn out the cat. This feature of the ECU has lead to many inexperienced mechanics fitting a new injector needlessly and finding the fault is still there. Firstly, either move the coil pack to another cylinder (not recommend, being moved can upset them) or fit a new coil to number 2. If the fault persists, do a compression check.

Crasher - As usual, a perfect/informative response so thanks once again for that.

The error/issue went away for a few days so I cancelled the Audi trip and decided to grab 4 Bosch plugs from ECP. This afternoon, I managed to replace 3 out of the 4. So far all good, no lights, no issue and it seems to be starting up instantly compared to maybe an additional churn but that might just be in my head.

I really wanted all 4 replaced but I can't figure out how to get the 4th one (furthest to the right if you are in front of the engine/looking at the engine). Put it all back together now but if you do have any thoughts on the last one, it would be good to replace it. Like bulbs, I feel if all 4 went in at the same time, chances are they would fail around the same time too.

1 and 2 were very easy to replace. 3rd had what I think was the fuel line? given the smell going across it. I got that out enough to get the third plug out.

    Thanks again

It should be an easy thing to do had it not been for all the stuff covering plug 4.
Can't seem to find instructions anywhere how to get to it including Elsa.
Might just have to risk it and see how it goes or when the next major is due and they do the sparkplugs as part of it, pay to get number 4 replaced by Audi.
5 days and a couple of long-ish (90 mile round trip) trips...no issues so far
