Ah, good news on the parking brake. Although they do use more brake pad than 'normal'.

as you say, each to their own and it does not seem to put many people off buying them. But for me, no.

When I drive my daughter's Fiat 500, I have to think about the stalks. Seems French, Japanese and Italians like the twisty bits on the stalks. Lights and wipers mainly.
keeps me honest on gear changing too.

You’ll never find a bunch like folk on here.
I found a lot of the merc and beemer forums was more about measuring **** sizes than being that helpful. Here everyone chips in and help I found.

I think holding off on the purchase of any large diesel engined car for a year or so might be a smart move.
I have noticed prices are dropping, especially on the larger 4x4 stuff.

There is the worry of additional punitive measures against diesel cars but I drive 30k+ P/A so there is no real alternative at the moment that returns the same MPG and low running costs
