    Hi,

Hoping someone can help with the following problem ?
My A5 2010 2.0tdi Sport developed a fault a couple of weeks ago whereby idling is extremely rough. Typically the needle is bouncing around from 700 to 850+ rpm. Also, when driving from cold, the problem at low rev seems a lot worse and what I can only describe as "missing". After a couple of miles it's fine and at rpm of over 1200, the problem doesn't appear. I drove to work this morning with no issues on the motorway and the issue is only there when stopped at the lights etc.
I've trawled several forums and this is what I've done so far :-
Changed the high pressure fuel pump regulator valve(no swrf/metal bits present so assume pump is ok)
    Changed the injectors
Checked all associated wiring and plugs for visible faults

There is no fault code using VCDS but the only thing of note is that when monitoring fuel pressure, it's bouncing around like crazy. And even with just the ignition on but not running, the fuel pressure is erratic ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as although I'm new to the forum, I'm not a total noob when it comes to diesel cars.
    Cheers,
    John.

Which engine type code and where did you buy the injectors?

Hi Crasher. Engine code is CAHA and injectors came from Eurocarparts. I initially thought it was the injector in cylinder 4 because pulling the plug off momentarily had no effect whereas when I did the same to the other injectors, the engine stalled.

You fitted these Bosch Exchange Injector | Euro Car Parts?

Did you enter the new IMA values?

So, last night I managed to find the solution.
The steps I went through :-
    1. Changed the fuel pressure regulator valve on top of the fuel pump - N290 but changed back to the original as it had no effect
    2. Tried new injectors - programmed with new codes etc
    3. Checked fuel line return valve
    4. Changed the common rail fuel pressure regulator and pressure sender

Even though there was no fault code present, I came across something on the Ross-Tech Wiki which was attributed to the same engine as mine - IDE02703 Reset learned values etc.
I performed the reset and hey presto. My feeling is that this was down to the N290 and so if the fault comes back I'll just change this as a matter of course and perform the reset again.
Just to note, no metal bits present when I removed the valve so assumed no issue with the fuel pump.

That is a function in ODIS that has calmed a few CRTDI engines for me, hadn't noticed it in VCDS.
