Problem Getting New Car Registered

I am in the process of buying a new 2019 model Passat Saloon diesel SEL manual. Car arrived at dealer some days ago and it has gone through its PDI. Registration Number has been allocated but there would appear to be a problem with DVLA registering this vehicle. Has anyone out there experienced or know of this problem?

I am assuming you have not picked the car up yet? It is normal practice to register the vehicle when title passes to you and that is when the warranty starts. That would be the day you go into the dealer and are given the keys.

One of the reasons is that you could pull out of the deal, albeit you would lose any deposit paid. If you pulled out after the car was registered but before you paid for it, the dealer has a problem. The dealer would have a new car to sell again but whoever bought it would be the "second" owner.

Further to my first post, today I have been in contact with my dealer and VW UK Customer Services. It would seem that there is a problem between VW an DVLA re some Passat models including mine which is a 150 diesel manual SEL.

That’s probably down to there being no 140 diesel model!

Glad to say I picked up the car yesterday evening. It took about 3 weeks to get it registered with DVLA.

A further problem I encountered was that my existing insurer was unable to quote for the car as they did not yet have sufficient information. Have got what I think is a good deal from LV.

Yikes I have just ordered a SEL 190 Auto - should get it in three weeks!
