I've a 2003 A4 petrol and need to prevent pine needles getting into the engine through the vents just below the wipers with say some material or a sheet of plastic etc., however could this cause problems elsewhere ?

    Thanks for any suggestions....

I've got an old lace net curtain I could make into a long "sausage" roll laying it across the vent for 2 or 3 days when I don't need the car, but wondering if this could cause knock on unventilated problems later on in the engine compartment as it could cause damp to build up say in the ECU ?

A bi annual clean out is the best idea. We were doing a front wheel bearing on a 2005 this afternoon and it involves some violent thwacking and all up a sudden gallons of water poured onto the floor. We only cleaned the plenum out earlier this year. Also tomorrow our faithful 99 A4 is going to the breakers as blocked drains caused water to get into the passengers floor and damaged the side impact sensor, these are no longer available and impossible to find as cars with side air bags were rare pre 2000.
