DPF ash limit

Hi,

I need some advice.

My DPF ash amount is reaching its limit according ELSA manual.

Current value is 0.16L and limit is 0.175L of ash:



Car is now on 241000km. There is no any DPF light or warning neither performance change.

Do I need to make any cleaning of DPF or to take it out and give to specialist for cleaning or to add some aditive to fuel tank?

there is loads of stuff on the market now not sure whats what to be honest. But the wifes BM used to suffer this back when th eonly option was new - my solution was harsh but it was a BM'r - take it out of limp home and a good italian tune when cold.... later found out the actual cause was a duff thermostat not allowing the regen to kick in - no temp gauge in the BM. yea so it should regen itself, loads of speculation around this also lol half a tank of fuel above 3K rpm lol dont think its that strict the neighbors A6 is always got the fan on after he comes home for way too long - i goggled that apparently its a regen thing as it gets that hot it needs to cool off?!?!

I have checked max differential pressure before regeneration during hard acceleration and it was 273hpa at 3556rpm. During normal driving it was going from 20 to 80hpa. I did not check how are values after regeneration but suppose that they are decreased according to values taken on idle.

Oldish thread I know but I'm at the same stage with a 3l tdi in a 2015 A6 Quattro. No lights or warnings, running well but probably more frequent regens, ash limit in gms is 327, ash load in volume is 0.24l using obdeleven scan. Dpf replace given as 226k km approx, I'm on 228K km. What I have been able to find out from Audi service schedule is that my dpf requires inspection at 180k, and if still operating within spec, subsequent inspection every 30k km thereafter. So it's not necessary to replace straight away. I'm just not sure what the parameters are, though I'd image the ash load and differential pressure are factors. Second thing I've discovered is that new replacement doesn't seem an option, there's no one selling
this beast new, with combined catalyst, Nox, adblue injection and DPF. Rather, it seems removal and cleaning is required. Not the in car cleaning which will deal with soot blocked dpf with warning lights etc, using foams injected, as these don't remove ash. Ash can't be flushed through, its trapped in the particle filter and doesn't dissolve so must be steam flushed out in reverse. There are commercial cleaners who will perform this on a collect and return basis, about €200. Otherwise, its purchase/exchange fir a reconditioned unit which costs far more, maybe €600+, more until after you send in your removed one for the exchange value. If you can do without the car while a mechanic pulls the dpf, has it collected, cleaned and returned, then reinstalls and resets the levels and milage back to zero, then your done for another 180k+ km before reinspection unless it clogs earlier due to a different engine fault.
