Hi, back in the fold
ive bought a my16 rs6, and wondering if it’s worth getting a data sim for Audi connect?
i was hoping to use the data from my phone, but seems that can’t be done.
are there any real world benefits of Audi connect?

Hmmm are you sure you can’t hotspot it? I thought you could on MY16?

Is Audi connect worth it? You’ll get lots of differing views - how often do I use it? Hardly ever BUT I am missing not having a sim at the moment as I don’t get the traffic status on google maps. I think however I’ll be getting another one just for that reason

Worth it a big yes. Live traffic for the satnav alone. I use a 3 data only sim, 24gig or 2 years around £45. Works in UK and Europe Enjoy your RS. Not that I'm jealous.......

This is the bit I miss - I meant that I don’t use the other connect features, news, weather, train times etc but I’m sure they’ll be useful for others

Is the three sim a simple push in or do you need to register at all?

Hi. Yes just put it in and off you go, only issue I have noticed is sometimes it takes a minute or so to connect to the network, but that appears to only happen at home, may be in a bit of a dud spot. As for 3G or 4g. Don't think it matters am sure mine is a 4g sim but they should be backwards compatible to an earler network generation. Also good for passengers wanting to surf or watch TV on the go. Search on Amazon that's where I get mine. Still not jealous

Yes a SIM is a SIM they all pick up whatever they can. I use a 3 PAYG in the dash (you can only hotspot it if you have rSAP on your phone) and just stick it in an old phone to top it up every few months.

Like everyone else on this thread it's great for live traffic, and you can search for a location on the app and send it the satnav whilst in your house. That's all I use it for.
