Had a problem with my esp light coming on when I’m driving for ages know soon as I switch engine off and back on drive a bit it would go off.

But recently it’s been coming on and staying on only going off randomly after a few start and stops. Today it was flashing and I could feel brakes biting it was flashing really fast car was un drivable.

Pressed the esp button to turn it off and made my way home.

Vcds code that came up was
01826 - Sensor for Steering Angle (G85); Supply Voltage Terminal 30

Had this code since the esp light first came up tried steering wheel angle calibration in Vcds but it’s ok for a few days then comes back Vcds does show angle of steering when straight at 0 degrees.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing it? Or any pointers were I could start

    Thanks

This is one of the best places to find possible solutions. Maybe change the sensor.

Already checked that out when this happened about a year ago. Sensor a bit pricey and the age of the car plus this clean air zone coming to Birmingham next year i never replaced it as the car was running fine with the light on.

i was thinking of checking the alternator out see if its causing the low voltage that might be causing the angle sensor to throw a fault in the summer it was fine as the weather has got colder it has started again and battery in new . Had the car for 11 years know and with all this clean air zone coming soon car will need to go just wanted it to last till then.
