Help, please , my 2011 B 7 estate tailgate lock mechanism has died , going out with a whirring noise when activated , I cant lock the boot and also noticed I have no rear wiper or washer , I can change the lock unit easily enough but is it linked to my failed wiper and washer ?
There are no visible signs of water damage and the car is high mileage so lock failure is acceptable , I have activated the interior sensor to OFF hoping it does a little to help the alarm not going off , yet the car will sense an open tailgate so how can I counter act that issue until I can replace it Monday ?
Grateful in advance for all helpful replies .

My 10p's worth would be broken wiring loom where it passes through the boot hinge.

I had my washer pipe repaired at this point.

Thanks for reply , I have bought a new lock mechanism as there are no visible damp patches on the headlining and the lock is dead , only the solenoid micro chip of the handle is engaging , after all the use it has had I'm betting its just a lock gone , it WILL also disable the rear wiper , VW technician said . I will try and fit it tmrw its simple swap over and you do not need to remove ALL the boot liner .

Ok all fixed , was a 5 minute replacement job , and everything is working as it should do. There was no visible signs of water leakage from the hose and I have put the failure down to excessive use and high mileage . VW main dealer part as I always use genuine parts £50. So relieved.
