I've a new problem since getting the car on the road and that is the temp gauge does not work when the car is running but when the car is off and ignition is turned on only after a long drive the gauge shows working? As soon as I restart the car the gauge goes back to zero again.

I've changed the sensor, bleed the system I have hot and car air working but I'm really confused why the gauge won't work when the engine is on.

Any ideas as I've looked on Google and the forums with no luck at all.

First picture shows temp gauge working with engine off and just ignition on

Second picture with engine on and running.

Do you have vcds? If so I would check the coolant temp on the measuring block when the engine is off and when the engine is running to see which direction to head for a diagnosis.

If you don’t have vcds then I suggest you get it. A great tool and you can look at data for the price of a cable from eBay.

You can get the software for free but it only gives you 1 code and you can’t reset. Worth starting with though.

How do you clear the codes with the program?

It's a new temp sensor put in yesterday.
