    Hi,
ZF the manufacturer recommends 70kmiles, audi recommends 100k miles, and bmw recommends 80k miles.

personally, my oil was changed at 69k miles, and it was clean and non gritty to touch compared to engine oil at 10k miles. knowing how simple is was to change, I would do it at periodically every 70k miles.

    how high is high millage?

    Hi,

There is quite a difference between 70,000 and 100,000! My mileage is approaching 129,000. The last owner was a CEO who spent all the time driving up and down the country so over 30,000 a year for the last 3 years. My paperwork says the gearbox oil was last changed at 60,000.

The whole car is immaculate inside and outside and has wanted nothing looking at the service history. So to maintain that I think I want to change the gearbox oil soon.

I believe that ZF recommend oil change between 80 and 120k kms (might also be up to 8 years but can't remember where I saw it) depending on use. For the price it's worth changing it.

That’s what I was leaning towards. A few hundred for a service verses a new box at £12,000 or what ever it is. So any one know any specialist VAG garages in Yorkshire?

You are better looking for a gearbox specialist as the torque converter needs flushing during the oil change. There’s one in Glasgow but no idea about further south. ZF might have info on their site. Not all have the equipment to do the complete oil change.

I haven’t personally checked this in vcds but apparently you can compared actual gearbox oil pressure verses target pressure for each gear. Depending on the variance you can judge how badly your gearbox needs a service. I serviced my gearbox as it was lumpy in low rev’s stuck in traffic.

Mannol tiptronic AG60 oil is the VW G 060162 spec. I paid about £50/10litres through ebay which is much cheaper than the offical lifeguard 8 oil at about £18/litre.

I also bought the filter, and gasket for £100 from *******.

Job took about 1 day to service.
Are you still happy with Mannol oil?

I have a further question about this gearbox. If the recommended initial service interval for this gearbox is 70k, would it need doing every 70k thereafter? (Or 70k from when it was last serviced) I have quite a high mileage BiTDi and it might need doing soon if that is the case.
Is there any specialist (non dealer) garage in or around Yorkshire that anyone can recommend? I am very new to VAG.

    Thanks.
Why not try Darkside Developments? They seem like a competent lot.

So who has had their Tiptronic 8-spd autobox serviced by Dartford Transmissions? For clarity, the Tiptronic is the Torque Converter and NOT the S-tronic (aka DSG).

I am wanting to understand whether the service is actually needed and whether "Dartford Transmissions" are worth a butcher's

Audi again verified it does not need a service when I asked again this week... forum members are saying different. I am in the same bit as you, all up for preventative maintenance, but don’t care to do it for the sake of it. Does the RS6 have the same gearbox? If not it’s still a ZF, and presumably serviced in exactly the same way? Same goes for Bentleys, RangeRovers etc..
