    Hi Folks,

I've been looking at spacing up a new facelift Q7 and I have noticed that the UK spec car on the configurator now appears to show a build with physical buttons for things like the lights, hand brake, hazard warning light and drive select, rather than the haptic glass and the silver metal buttons for the parking brake. It's a bit weird because there are new Q7's in the showrooms with the haptic (Q8 style) buttons but also I've started to see some photos of new Q7's coming through with the plastic grey buttons. Any ideas what's going on? has the UK spec car been downgraded to plastic buttons and the Q7's in the showroom are launch models or something? It also doesn't appear to be trim level specific either. Pics attached...

That’s a really good spot but I’ve got no idea - could be a cost cut but could be spec specific? Could SLine above have the haptic glass style with Sport the physical button?

Nope. It’s not trim related. I test drove a new Vorsprung SQ7 last week that had just landed at the dealership and it had the physical grey buttons. Weird because the sline version they had in the showroom had the glass haptic ones. It’s not a LHD / RHD build thing either. The show room models must be a pre- production run or something(?) Also all UK black editions seem to be landing with the grey physical buttons too.
Interesting too that the UK Configurator website now show the grey buttons on all models whereas the German site has the haptics on all models. Really don’t understand the rationale here. There must be a reason for it. Can’t imagine it’s a cost thing.
I know there would be some market variation but this seems really bizarre especially since there are RHD new Q7s with the haptic style sitting in showrooms. You’d think it would be easier just to have all the same especially since they are already manufacturing the same parts for the Q8s.

Very odd.. I'm not sure either myself

    Example, here

    Grey Buttons (£112 new)

    2019-10-22_19-30-48.jpg

    Haptic Buttons (£212 new)

    2019-10-22_19-30-10.jpg

These are different part numbers and their "codes" are different too, but they are very cryptic... but the 2 different versions definitely exist on the system

I hope there's a genuine reason for it rather than the UK just becoming a parts bin.

Based on that link above, it looks like Pre-Prod models had them..

Thanks for the link. I hadn't seen that discussion. Still odd that Audi would do this. Even odder that they are still doing it on new models. That discussion was about the A6 month ago so you'd think they would go for one part or another when releasing the bigger models...
