    Evening all!

    I have just joined.
I am not new to the A8 model, as I have had the following...

    Audi 4.2 V8 quattro - 1991
    Audi A8 4.2 D2 Sport - 1997
    Audi A8 3.0 TDi quattro D3 - 2004
    Audi A8 4.2 V8 D3 on LPG - 2003
    Audi A8 3.0 TDi quattro D4 - 2012
    Audi S8 5.2 - 2008 (Adaptive cruise!!)
    Audi A8 3.0 TDi quattro - 2011 (Adaptive Cruise!)
    present car is A8 D3 4.2 TDi Sport 2007.

Things I do on my cars... if possible.
on the D4s change of bulbs as they invariably never get changed (no need to remove the bumper). Just did the same on my D3 without removing the bumper as the filter housings are removed to get there.
Oil and filter changes are relatively easy with the air suspension set to high.

On the S8, a previous owner had removed the flaps and had it mapped to accommodate it. It ran rough for about 20 seconds when cold before settling. I wired the exhausts open too, for more sound.

    Things I have noticed...
the gearing on the D3s needs to be longer. The D4s gearbox has the right gearing. 70mph at 1500 rpm is fantastic! But I found the 3.0 TDi needed more go (for me), but I am used to more power!
The D3 Sport models ride (arguably) better than the D4 SE and with much better handling. The D4's are too wallowy for me.
Might get the D4 4.2 TDi next and fit a thicker ARB.

Options on these beasts... why don't people tick the adaptive cruise box? It is THE best option to get! Along with the piano black inserts instead of the brushed chrome in the D4. Bose on the D3 is sooo much better than the boggo on the D4. Neither of my D4s had Bose. The interior lighting on the D3 looks classier than in the D4. The dash and fascia are neater on the D4. The boot on the D4 is very shallow and small. My golf brolly would not fit lengthways in, yet in the D3 there is room to spare. Maybe they should have kept the battery at the side and not under the spare wheel?
