I’ve just replaced the injector wiring loom and replaced some damaged wiring to the turbo actuator and EGR Solenoid valve but the engine won’t start. Do I need to register the new loom or is there something else I should be looking for? I’m not seeing any error codes.

No it’s plug and play. Have you opened the fuel system? What are you using as a code reader?

    Hi Crasher,
I lifted the camcover off and carefully removed the old loom and installed the new one, I checked the glow plugs with a DVM and had about 0.3ohm reading on all 4. I then installed the camcover and tried to start it with no luck. I then decided to check out the wiring, I had previously had a small fire as a result of mice getting into the insulating blanket under the bonnet and the material had dropped down on the exhaust manifold, what I now know was the turbo actuator the wiring was fused together so I cut that back and installed a new connector. I then found that the EGR Solenoid had partially melted so got a new unit and replaced the connector. Again tried to fire it up but nothing. I haven't done anything with the fuel system although previously I replaced the filter and I'm using a Carista OBD reader which was previously giving me injector being out of range errors but currently the only error I'm seeing is one for the Steering Angle. The glow plug light comes on and goes off after a few seconds. I did have another thread but it got closed before I could update it. My next plan is to take the camcover off again and just check out the loom although I'm sure all the connections are fine but can't think of doing anything else.

Has the engine run for a good period since changing the fuel filter ?

If not I would run the fuel pumps with VCDS or Carista to purge any air.

If still no joy, carefully re-check your wiring repairs.

The fuel filter was replaced a couple of months ago and the fuel system hasn’t been opened since, so I don’t see that as a problem. In short unless there is an obvious problem I’m very close to scrapping it as there are a couple of other minor problems which put together are making it unviable to keep.

Very many thanks for your help
