    I can't find a definite answer anywhere.

My daughter in law is after one around 2015 model.

I have been told it is a chain but another website says belt.

If it is a belt what is the renewal frequency?

    Can anyone help me?

My local dealer is hopeless so no help there.

    Thanks.

The CZEA code engine is belt driven thankfully and the interval is 5 years, I can’t remember the mileage but I think it is 75k ish.

hi Crasher, I’m looking to purchase Polo as a second car of (just as a run around )
age range from 2011 to 2015 , manual gearbox - not fussed on engine size.

By your comment it’s better to have a belt rather than a chain.

Which engines have a chain ?

and which engines to avoid ?

    thanks in advance

As far as the Polo type 6R my's 2010>2014 are concerned, there are only two engines out of ALL the petrol and Fuel of the Devil engines (discounting the ultra rare Polo WRC) ever offered and those are the cam belt 86PS 1.4 16v CGGB (as crashed by Mother of Crasher) which seem OK apart from the occasional burnt out exhaust valve and the 2012>2014 TSI ACT with the cam belt 140PS 1.4 16v turbo, these do not YET seem to be causing any trouble, apart from some turbo issues. The one to avoid like the Coronavirus is the 1.4 TFSI twin charger (CAVE code in the 6R GTI), these are turning out to be a disaster in whichever car they are used, I have two here in bits (Beetle and Scirocco) at the moment with shattered pistons needing £4K rebuilds, both with only 80K ish on the clock.

many thanks Crasher for the information much appreciated , I’ll ask your advice again if I may ,when
    I’ve found a possible vehicle .

I’m pretty certain I’ll be buying it from a main dealer “ approved used. “

The engine is not twin charger but the box has had its fair share of issues.
