For some bizarre reason I have yet to fathom, the stop start system will not work if the seatbelt is not engaged. It is one of those questions I ask that I can't figure out the answer such as "why do you have to put your foot on the brake pedal of an automatic to start the engine when it is already locked in park and putting your foot on the brake disengages the lock?", one of life's mysteries.

It could just possibly be a fault with the switch on the seat belt anchor then.

I think it's to do with the battery coding as I cant code it properly due to it having a halfords battery fitted with no serial number etc

The batteries do have to be coded using VCDS, as was mine when I had the garage replace it. My stop/start is also no longer working, but this is due to a neutral position sensor which seems to be a pain to sort out.

Golf 5 batteries don't need coding...

The side air bag issue is normally the yellow plug at the front of the seat runner in a box under a carpet flap, it goes high resistance.

Further to this the engine idle speed set point keeps changing and can be quite high around 1100rpm even when up to temperature. this is nothing to do with a re gen by the way and it has been re gen'd. Normal or abnormal?

The rpm will lift if the car moves, even slightly.
