    Hi all,

It's been a while since I last came into this forum. Hope everyone is well.

Just thought of asking a question please.

I'm looking to replace my brake pads. I'm exploring a few options:

    1. Just go to an Audi specialist and fit OEM brake pads
So far, this appears to be quite a costly option

    2. Buy OEM brake pads online and get a garage to fit it
Saves abit of cash and gets the job done

    3. Buy brembo brake pads online and get a garage to fit
I'm trying to ask has anyone has fitted Brembo pads before and how do you feel? Also, I saw 2 different options for the pads. Not sure which ones to go for.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

Let me add another option to your list - something that I did and cannot recommend highly enough: get a set of ATE ceramic pads (and fit them yourself)!
It is a 2 hour job for all 4 if you don't have any experience. I also replaced my disks (ATE as you could guess). It might sound scary but it was dead easy at the end. I'm really happy with everything (1+ year in) and the difference re: dust is unbelievable...

Doing the job yourself is an option and the one I would choose, however make sure you have a better jack that the one that comes with the car, I would not want to work on the car with that widow maker. You will need some tools, like a 7mm allen key, brake piston spreader, wire brush and a brake cleaner if you don't have them then just pay a garage to do the job.

    Thanks guys..

Problem is that I don't have the tools, nor the know-how or the confidence to do it. The biggest risk is that I mess something up and getting into an accident.

    Cheers.

Find a friendly garage that will do the job, some garages don't like people supplying their own parts. As if the parts supplied don't fit then they could end up with an immobile car on a ramp taking up space. Another option is to ask them to supply the Brembo pads and see what their markup is.

Also bear in mind you need software to release the rear brakes for servicing. I would agree that doing it yourself is the best option but if you aren’t happy doing that, then the next best would be to use a good local garage.

Thanks everyone. Just want to ask has anyone used the aftermarket pads before and how do they compare? Cheers.

I’ve just fitted a set of Brembo front discs and pads. They feel fine to me, I do mainly motorway miles so don’t need to brake often but I’m happy with them so far. Not had to emergency brake yet so the jury is out on that for now 🤞🏻

Also, the options for your pads will most likely correspond to what size discs they’re trying to stop. The PR code on the sticker in your spare wheel well will tell you what brakes you have.

Mine was 1LA which meant I had 320mm discs
It’s the 3rd column from the left, on the 2nd row.

Sorry if that sounds confusing 🙈

I’m a big fan of trw brake parts and been using them for over 10 years. The quality is superior to Audi and less brake dust with the cotec/dtec range. Main thing is they come with all the sensors, bolts, shims etc and they are much cheaper than Audi parts. The brake discs are have a coating on the hub that outlasts the Audi ones by far.
I’m selling a set of front and rear discs and front pads originally bought for a 272 but may fit others pm me if you are interested.
