  1. High frequency judder when braking

    Hi all,
I'm pretty annoyed to say the least. My front discs have started a really fast judder when gently braking at 50mph+, causing pedal judder and cabin noise. The car has only done 43k miles and is driven quite gently most of the time.
I know the only cure is new discs and pads but I'm alarmed by how quickly this came on (almost without warning, with no build up to the current level) so I just wanted to ask what those that have replaced their discs used, and what their experience has been since replacing them.
    Thanks collective!

I had this on my c6, i could fit new pads n disc’s and it would be juddering in around 500 miles again. I think it was a wheel bearing/hub issue.

I recently replaced pads and discs all round on my 2.0 tdi C7.. done by independent.. Pagid kit used. Total cost was c£640 this included rebalance of all 4 wheels.

I had done c84k miles ...and the old discs pads were original from new.. so I’m a bit of a limo driver. Car all fine now and sailed thro an MOT this week...

Sounds like you have been unlucky .. either that or you are a closet vegan F1 driver.. good luck..

£640??? WOW. I'm looking at £200 for Mintex pads and discs on the front. You can get 4 discs and pads for about £400 on E Bay. Strangely, the juddering wasn't so noticeable when I drove it last night. Go figure!

TripleT... you will be able to by the kit front and back for c£400 ....then there the installation cost. Think Audi’s book price for doing it all ...is c£800.

Not sure why your issue would be intermittent... couldn’t be ABS system related?

Over the weekend I began to wonder if it could be steering bushes or drop links maybe as the 20" wheels are huge and must stress the bushes considerably.

Just a quick update. I've bitten the bullet and bought a full set of Mintex discs and pads after having the MOT last Saturday I asked the mechanic to drive it, he also says front discs warped.
So after doing a lot of looking I managed to get all I needed for £240 which I'm OK with. I'll fit the fronts this weekend and nip over to a friends garage to get him to release the rear calipers to allow me to fit the rears in the next few days. Let's hope that cures it.

    Likely Possible causes.

    ceased caliper
    warped disc
    dirt behind disc

i had some high speed shutter at 70mph on new bosch disc. Greased all the caliper sliding pins and the problem went away.

Got the discs fitted at a friends garage, it took 2 of them about an hour and a half to do. £80 for the fitting so for £320 I'm all done and the car is back to lovely smooth braking again with no vibrations.
