Whilst pootling along at 55 in the inside lane of the A31, I was overtaken by a coach, that pulled in to the same lane, with not a lot of braking room, whereupon, my car started accelerating.

The HUD and VC display, both showed a nice little 80, inside a red circle.

It would appear that the cameras on the car had identified the maximum speed 80 (km/h) speed limit badge, on the back of the coach, as a roadside speed limit sign and changed the car's velocity accordingly.

It's strange. Mine only shows the limit, or warns me if I drive a higher speed, but doesn't change the velocity. How, or where you can set this feature?

    You'll need Adaptive Cruise Control

Yes, I have it. However, in the menu I can see only settings for a warning, like "0, +5%, +10%" or something like this. However this will only blink the traffic sign in the dash, but doesn't change the velocity. Therefore I'm wondering, where can I set it to act and not only warn me.

That brings back memory of the Honda CRV I used to own will give me 90 every time I drive pass 60 sign on the M25 smart motorway displays... lol.. luckily the speed limit recognition won't affect adaptive cruise control speed.

It’s predictive efficiency assist, which also controls the car’s speed with adaptive cruise is on. And Its very clever as it uses both the satnav data plus traffic sign recognition, but like most things like this it can go wrong occasionally as the algorithms mis-interpret the visual data. Personally I’ve found mine goes most annoyingly wrong then there are two speed limits in parallel (e.g. a car/HGV split limit, or a wet/dry split limit on signs in mainland europe). It’s not the speed warning system.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I prefer to control my car myself.

Thank you for the answer, but I still don't understand my case: I have the Efficiency assistant, it's active, the shoe sometimes activates on the screen - but my car still doesn't change the speed even if it recognises the traffic sign. Do I need to select some more option somewhere, or I have a bug?
