Hi all, looked around and can't find the answer to my model/problem so looking for some help please. . .

    1. Golf estate 2010
    2. First problem was fuel tank flap door wouldn't open. . . ( I messed about after looking at help videos ) got it open and filled up
    3. Next day car central locking wouldn't open with key fob. . . opened manually and started car but fuel tank flap stuck again ( used the open/close button on drivers door a few times and fuel tank opened again )
    4. Followed another video to 'resync fob' ( switched on dashboard lights and pressed unlock on fob for 5 secs ) central locking now working but fuel flap still stuck

I now have an open car but fuel flap still won't open but in garage at night and not too keen on locking it up again until I get some help as to what's going on, what to do. Prior to the 1st fault of fuel flap everything was working fine

    Any help would be appreciated?

    Cheers

Have a full car fault code scan done using VAG specific equipment, there may be errors in the central convenience system which will help in diagnosing the problem.

Last I heard dealer was charging £70 for a diagnostic scan which is expensive. Find a good garage that has VAG-COM\VCDS.

Thanks, I'll have a look around. . . Does the scan just reveal the issue or is it a scan/reset type of test so it works afterwards? Cheers

VAG-COM\VCDS does a full scan to show error codes logged in the ecu. It saves a log file with the results. Each error has a priority number.

    Fault Code Screen

Clearing error codes is generally done after a faults has been repaired. Clearing codes doesn't make everything on it doesn't fix any error codes.

Cheers, so my understanding is a scan will give a code, the code relates to a fault which can be fixed then reset; right?

VAG-COM\VCDS does a full scan to show error codes logged in the ecu. If no error codes are listed for fuel flap lock then you can check this component in Advanced Measuring Blocks with many other components listed.

Check voltage and operation, you should be able to switch it off and on. See if it locks.

I saw one of these OBD2 fault code reader
in Aldi so bought it, plugged it in and followed instructions and after scanning came up with : No errors

    Would the
    VAG-COM\VCDS do a different scan?
