A6 C5 awx Audi ECU swap

Simple question
Can I use any ECU from any awx engined 5 speed car in the vag group
I can get a VW Passat 2002 awx ECU remapped cheap and wondering is it a direct swap for mine
The last couple of letters seem different but the rest is the same
How easy is it to do

There are multiple different ECU numbers, some directly comparable, others not. The other thing worth noting is the only mechanical difference between an AWX and an AVF engine is the flywheel, all the power generation hardware (but not the support) is the same and the difference in torque is purely ECU mapping. It always amuses me when “tuning” companies claim different gains on the AWX to the AVF purely from a remap.
