Hi there,

Hope someone can help with some advice on a 2009 Passat 1.9 BXE.

The engine can be difficult to start when cold - seems to fire very briefly, then just turns on the starter for a long while before picking up and running. It almost seems like it is not getting fuel and takes a while to build up.

Once started, it is generally OK starting again quickly when warm.

Also, the engine can at times be jerky/shudders, it can be felt at at idle but also at lower revs in a higher gear, much better if shifting down to a lower gear and increased revs.

The car has had a new pump in the fuel tank earlier in the year, after suddenly cutting out and not starting again. Not sure if anything related.

It also had a new camshaft sensor earlier in the year which reduced cranking time as there was a logged fault.

It has also had a new injector harness fitted by the garage as what they thought was causing the jerkiness, but no real difference- it still does it. They seemed to think it can just take a while to start, but it definitely started more instantly before now.

Any ideas appreciated as it seems the garage hasn’t really diagnosed the problem.

Thanks
