    Hi,

When the car has been left sitting for a while ( >8 hours) it will usually take about 2-3 seconds of cranking time before starting. Normally the car will start in about half a second, similar to most other modern cars. I always leave the ignition on for a few seconds before starting, allowing the glow plugs to heat up and fuel system to prime etc. The engines cranks perfectly, and when it does eventually kick, its starts very smooth, although a few times it has spluttered to life a bit. This has been a consistent problem for the last few months and I can't seem to figure it out.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance, Conor

You may have a glow plug/plugs off.

Thanks for your response. I have noticed that if I turn off and on the ignition again before starting, it solves the long crank problem. Would this rule out the glow plugs? Thanks, Conor
