The missus has had car for maybe five years now. Has always been serviced and repaired by local independent garage using genuine parts, due to me being either too busy and/or too flush.

The car had developed an oil leak over the past few months and had flashed up low oil level warning a couple of times, just put some oil (dipstick is for what on this?) in and put it on the long list of jobs to do. Starter motor was hesitating when key turned then failed completely, so rather than getting the car recovered and me having a few spare days from work decided to sort it myself. There are a few issues underneath with cable ties holding under tray on and bolts missing here and there.

Starter had failed due to an oil leak somewhere and it getting into it and mullering the brushes. New starter fitted and working ok but need to address the oil leak. The long live wire to the starter was full of oil inside its outer protective cover and there was a fair amount of oil down the side of the engine presumably from careless filling (probably me) so pressure washed it off this afternoon and am going to run it for a while to see if anything obvious shows up.

It does not seem to be coming from the turbo, rocker cover gasket seems likely suspect.

Must be something someone has dealt with before looking for a few pointers.

    Cheers.

Normally it is the usual condensed charge air system oil oozing from the couplings and dripping.
