Can’t vouch for the VW version but my icarsoft 908 Volvo specific code reader has got me out of many a CEM hole. The website even has a video demo resetting an Audi airbag light. £100 ish new but my used one was half that on eBay.

Check Ebay or Gumtree for someone in your area operating VCDS. They will turn the light out for a small fee. If you would rather buy something it depends on how often you will use it. If its going to be all the time then VCDS, although expensive, is a good way to go. I would find it hard to go back to a cheap scanner as other readings and info are often required to solve a problem. I see every day the computer blames a part that is working fine!
