IMHO you can add the drop of the MMI, and the worst positioned central screen in the category. And Audi did it in all their major models. IMHO if you see the wide screen displays in the Mercedes, and the BMW, then the interior seems quite boring and too small, outdated in all the current Audis. Even a Skoda, or a Passat have these screen sizes.

Saw the wide screen dash in the new Touareg on the weekend - impressive stuff

Yes it is, and it's something genuine.

Now try to figure out, what Audi's interior is this:

It's something like "you can guess one", as these are all the same, and all of these are something like kidding compare to a VW(!), while without the central MMI system, there is no difference between the usage.

    It's a nightmare.

At a random guess that’s the Q8 but yes could quite easily be the A6/7/8 or Q7/8

Spoke to my local Master Tech the other day. He said the reason why now the ability to "Pick and choose" all the options on new UK ordered cars is because of the Emissions thing.

Every permutation of config has to be tested (e.g Adding a trailer hitch increases weight, so you need to then test emissions on that setup), even as little as adding another unit in the car which causes it weigh more means they need to emissions test again. So now they just limit the options to those 3 models... with a small number of customer "tick boxes" to choose from.

    Hi Andy,

Does that imply, that if you buy a model without a tow bar then fit one later ,
your car is in effect illegal to use as it no longer fits the emmisions catagory??

Maybe in the future any retrofit additions will mean more road tax.

    Thats Stupid !!

This is the problem of the majority of new models. Look at BMW or Porsche. The interiors are also the same. The same with exteriors. Difficult to recognise difference between Audi Q7 and Q5, Porsche Cayenne and Macan or BMW X5 and X3.
You need a deeper look on details and on size to name the model. This is unfortunately the sign of trend and cost saving policy.
