Yellow oil can Sensor

So having a bit of a saga. Not long got the car, no temperature guage, replaced sensor, heats up when sitting in traffic, cools down on motorway so assuming need to do thermostat. Oil temp usually sitting between 80-100 but fluctuates too, assumed that would steady with new thermostat also. Loud beep today, yellow oil can sensor warning, and now no movement in oil temp guage.. oil level ok. Sensor away or more sinister? Where would I find the sensor to replace please!(03 1.9 tdi, awx engine) Thanks in advance!
