Hi I am based in the U.K. and have a 1998 2.8 Quattro.

My steering rack has just started weeping power steering fluid out of the gaiter.

I’ve tried to source a new rack but failed.

Any ideas where I can get a new or reconditioned rack?

Or even go about repairing my one?

If not the car is dead!!!

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks in advance!

In 2004 the company linked to below sold me the parts to rebuild the PS rack on my Alfa 33 1.7, which I was unable to find anywhere else. They could not provide full instructions, as they used special tools, but I was able to get full details to make up my own mandrels etc. from ZF in the UK. The steering worked perfectly as long as I used the car, which was replaced by the Imola in 2008.

In the same year they rebuilt the rack for my VW camper, which was too complicated for me to attempt. 120,000 kms later it is still working perfectly.

There are other companies with similar names. The one I used, and recommend, is in Greenwich Power Steering Services | Power Steering Pumps, Racks, Boxes + Electric Steering Repairs
