    Hi all

The turbo on our BKD engine is very noisy and prone to "limping" under load.

The quick, hopefully sure, fix seems to be to fit a Melett turbo from Darkside, with the flexible oil feed to maybe simplify things a bit.

Is there anything obviously wrong with that plan?

Apart from what Darkside include, are any extra / uprated / OEM components that are recommended? Except hybrid, mapping, etc. Happy to keep it at stock performance.

Any other must-do's while I'm working on the turbo?

    Thanks all

I could also get a Midland Turbo remanufactured exchange for about £80 less, but won't then have a functional but noisy unit that someone on eBay might want to tidy up that I could offset the Melett cost with.

MT seem to get a good write up, so suspect I'll go with them and still get the Darkside braided line.

Question on extra bits to have to hand / check remians though. Any pointers?

I went with the Melett in the end: Successful turbo change on 2.0 TDI BKD Touran

As in that thread, I'd say the extra bits would be VAG mounting nuts and gaskets if you don't like the look of those sent wit the turbo.

Ive heard there are a lot of fake Chinese copies pretending to be Melett but buying off Darkside you will be fine. Fitted one recently to a 170bhp tdi Leon and seems to be fine.

Yes, worth using reputable suppliers I'm sure. Darkside seem to have good prices anyway, but I'd pay a bit more to get an item I trusted was what it said it was. I often get parts direct from VAG (or genuine(?!) Bosch, Hella, etc from GSF) for the same reason. Even things like rear wiper pivot covers are "disappointing" when not genuine .

Turbo has been great for the first 2k or so miles. Lovely to be able to do a 300 mile run up the motorway with no hint of limp. Just like the good old days.
