    Hi there,
My 2010 A3 has had an ABS 'go straight to garage' light flash up. Sent it to my local inde garage and they're saying the ABS control unit needs to be changed for £2k plus. I managed to get their diagnostic codes which I've pasted below. Anyone got any thoughts what I should do next pls?

    Thanks!

Afraid I don't know about that but the dash error messages persist.

So they read a fault code and concluded its a 2K repair? What diagnosing did they do? I`m not saying it isn`t faulty, but I`d be very wary of that diagnosis. If it transpires the ABS unit requires replacing, I`d send it off for testing/repair at one of a few good companies that repair all manner of automotive electronics. Much cheaper.

I have given up on all ECU testing and repair companies, even Bosch’s own service from Germany. In almost every case I have been let down with broken promises or estimates that are more than genuine replacement. The A3 ABS unit for 2010, the Mk61, has a reputation for ECU failure and the even big heads like ACTronics can’t do them. That last company cost me two weeks of lost time plus to and fro carriage costs to turn around and say no and make me look an idiot in front of my customer, I am quiet capable of doing that myself without anyone else’s help....

Never used any of these so cant vouch for them.
You can search yourself, but 2 I have heard of : ECU Testing
    BBA Reman

Did you have a diagnosis of the fault or just a code read?

ECU testing are near me and my stores man used to work for him, I will not use them no matter how many brochures and catalogues they send me. I know BBA Reman very well and have broken bread with the owner Chis, I have been on their forum longer than I have been on here and they have had a couple of success for me but still many failures and incorrect reports on ECU's such as fine when not and vice versa, Mind you even Bosch in Germany have done that to me on a TTRS ECU that I knew full well was faulty but they said wasn't, on the second attempt they agreed as they had "missed" a burnt track and offered me a new unit at £200 more than genuine Audi... If you want to do it once and quickly, buy a new genuine ABS unit. If you PM me your reg I will check what you need and have as the car was probaly built pre 02-11-09 which is the problem area.
