I would like to have the ability to stream music via Bluetooth. Currently I have an RCD 210 radio fitted.

Ive been looking online and wondered what options I have.

What options do I have re an VW unit. Are they coded to the car or plug and play

Also can i buy a unit elsewhere non VW. I understand theres an issue re power and Can bus. Is there an adaptor lead so I can plug another unit in

Your only option for OEM head units is an RNS315 which also has sat nav and can have Bluetooth built in (not all of them do, so be careful what you buy) Cost about £200 if you shop canny, and another £20 or so for a Bluetooth mike. Or you could fit a Bluetooth kit to your car and that would provide Bluetooth calls and also streaming if you bought a later kit which supports streaming. Cost maybe £130 - £150. Or you could go for a Chinese market VW RCD330 which could also give you Android Auto and Apple Carplay as well as Bluetooth, but you lose RDS and might also lose reverse parking display and dash display depending on features and brand of the unit you bought. Cost about £230 or so.
