    Hi All,

Im trying to decide on which Audi A6 to buy, Ive read several similar titled posts on this site and there seems to be allot of knowledge with regards these vehicles and the subtle differences between them, Im hoping you can help me fill in the blanks!

I currently have 2016 A6 Avant Black addition 190 ultra 2016 as a company car and due to a reduction in mileage have decided not to replace when the lease expires in November.

I do however love the A6 and have decided to buy my own making use of a car allowance instead.

Im really torn between the Black Edition 3.0 TDI quattro 272 PS S tronic and the Black Edition 3.0 TDI quattro 320 PS tiptronic 8 speed. There seem to be more of the 272 varieties about and they do seem to come with a better spec, which seems a little strange to me. The 190 isnt a slow car by any stretch but I would like some extra performance now Im not bound by company car tax!

Im looking at around a 2016/7 model and planning on buying from a dealer spending between £25 - £28k ish. the sort of mileage I’m looking at is around the 30 - 40k.

From what I have read the MPG seem similar as do the service costs, Im planning on test driving both at a local ish Audi dealership over the coming month but wanted to know the inside track on what to look for, whether there is much performance difference and whether the additional cost of the BI TDI is worth it..

Any assistance in making my decision easier would be very much appreciated.

    Thx

I’d buy the BiTdi just for the 8 speed ZF gearbox. The added performance is an added, significant, bonus.

As they say there's no replacement for HP. My only consern would be the tip box, as seen on here some have had problems with the oil as Audi say sealed for life. Guess if you are prepared to get the box sorted every 40-50k then go for it...

Doesn’t the s tronic need a service every 47k? Trip tronic is around 80k.

Mercedes say service their 7G and 9G at 40-50k. That’s in their service schedule so I stick with the same for my BiTdi. No idea why Audi stick with their ‘sealed for life’ crap. You’d think they’d want the service revenue.

Your 190 will definitely feel slow now which ever you end up going for! I had an A6 Ultra 190 Black edition before and the difference is huge.

I now have the 272 engine in my A4 Avant and run it as a company car on an allowance too, i get well over 40mpg on a sensible journey so it makes sense.

Being the 2016 version it does have the 8 speed ZF torque converter gearbox too which is recommended.

Or just go new and get the 50 TDI - they are a sweet engine by all accounts.

If you can live with the poorer fuel economy then I'd go for the BiTDI...
I did once break 50mpg on a long steady motorway cruise at 70mph with mine (2016 Allroad BiTDI), but day to day, driving steady on my mixed-road-type commute and using efficiency mode a fair bit, I occasionally reach 40mpg, typically 36ish.
