I have the A4 Avant B6 Estate 2.4 petrol Auto.

I got a few 'advisories' on a recent MOT and I'm wondering whether they are within my sphere of amateurishness to fix at home. I have a flat and level concrete pad on which I park the car in the garden but it is not a great deal bigger than the car.

    Advisories:-
Anti-roll bar linkage pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement.
Suspension arm ball joint has slight play Nearside Front Upper.

I believe that these problems are causing the clunking problem going roung sharp corners/roundabouts. I also believe that there is a clunk on both front sides (whichever is under load at the time).

I have spanners and a socket set and, so far, I know that I would also need to get some jack stands and a torque wrench.

Is this a job for a financially challenged home-would-be mechanic? My concern is that I might get to a point where the vehicle is imobilised and then I get stuck.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

The pinch bolt will be your biggest concern. Would advise having a garage remove them but do the rest yourself.
The pinch bolts will either need heat or air hammer, they are notorious for being a pain.
