ECU plugs have water ingress and have corroded. One pin has also snapped off. Is it possible to replace just the black plastic socket housing, or is a new ECU needed? Quote for a new one is £1600, and apparently to fit one via a scrapyard is expensive and time consuming. Has anyone had a similar issue and can offer some advice?

You can repair the sockets by changing the individual pins. There are repair wires available from the dealer that have a piece of wire on it so you simply cut off the old one and solder the new one on.

Alternatively is get a complete socket from a car at the scrap yard.

If you are not comfortable doing this, find an auto electrician and they will be able to do this repair.

Thanks for your reply. I am happy to attempt the fix myself, but what I’m not sure about is, is it possible to just open the ECU and easily access the back of (or remove) the plug socket unit from the ECU. I have found a set of screws online that are designed to prise open the casing without damaging it, but they’re £20. Didn’t want to spend the money just to find out the parts inside were unserviceable or inaccessible.
