I know this has been covered millions of times but I can't find a fix so here goes.

I have a mk6 1.6tdi and the EML has come on I have scan it and been on google looking for help I’ve checked the wiring and all seems ok I’ve even ran a new earth just in case but I still get the same fault. I’ve included the scan report if anyone can help pls do so as I’m pulling my hair out well what I have left 😂. I've not change the sensor due to everything I've read points to wiring.

The value is -40 which indicates a dead sensor as an earth wiring fault would normally give an open/short circuit to earth. Last week I had one which was driving me mad, a petrol TT BAM engine. It came in with the MIL on and showed the post cat Lambda sensor was open circuit to earth. Inspecting the sensor showed the boss had been bodge welded and the sensor fitted with exhaust paste so we removed the cat and I rebuild the boss area with stainless plate, MIG and new boss and back together with a new Bosch sensor...... same fault, would not even delete for a moment. Plugged in a new genuine sensor, same fault... accessed the ECU and the plug was water damaged right on those pins, cleaned, checked from plug to plug, perfect, same code... We jumped an earth to the wire after the plug, still the same, decided to fit a new ECU, two days later I went to fit it and the code had gone and did not come back.......

    VAG Error Code: 1649/205727/23096/16497/5282/4187/7308/000275

    EOBD II Error Code: P0113

    Fault Location:
Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 (G42) - Signal too High

    Possible Cause:
    Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active.

    Fuse(s).
    Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Intake Air Temperature Sensor (G42) faulty.Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 (G42).

    Possible Solutions:
    Check/Replace Fuse(s).
    Check/Replace faulty Wiring/Connector(s).
    Read Measuring Value Blocks (MVB).
    Intake Air Temperature Sensor (G42) < -46°C.
Check/Replace Intake Air Temperature Sensor (G42).

    When is the code detected?:
An excessively high voltage from the sensor is sent to Engine Control Module (ECM).

    Description:
The Intake Air Temperature Sensor is built into mass air flow sensor or in some vehicles mounted to the air filter duct housing. The sensor detects intake air temperature and transmits a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The
temperature sensing unit uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. Electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases in response to the temperature rise. The Intake Air Temperature signal is used as an input for
    various systems in the vehicle.

Ahh. now I am at work it makes more sense, a pre 2011 model Mexican built Golf estate, these suffer from wiring harness problems next to the inlet manifold flap motor where the harness ribs on the head.

It is interesting to note that your car has had Campaign 23F7 carried out to change the engine ECU from the original 03L 906 023 B to the 03L 997 557 M to deal with an earthing problem which causes cold start issues.

Below is the TPI about the problem, the edited version!

@Crasher Thanks I'll get looking sat after work i didn't even know it had a ecu replacement done. God I hate wiring issues Shame it won't make the car go puff lol the only issue iv'e had with the car is after the update was done was a injector fault and the windscreen freeze's on the inside in the winter.

    I'll keep you updated mate.

    Thanks once again
