    Hi all,

I've got ABS, ESP lights on and handbrake light flashing, which has been code read to be the ABS pump. There are loads on ebay, but i noticed that the part numbers all seem different, so I just pulled my battery to have a look started to wipe the thing which was caked with crud to find the number. Having found where it was, I then stupidly put some petrol on a rag and cleaned it which removed the bleedin' number as well. All I can make out of it is the last bit which is 517 BD with DE underneath. There are quite a few with 517 at the end, but no BD.

    How interchangeable are they please.

    Thanks

    Steve

There will be two part numbers on your ABS pump. One for the pump and one for the module. Its always best to match the part numbers exactly although if you can find an uprated pump that VW have released to replace the same number on yours, then it should be fine. Although the part may be out by just a single letter or number it could be critical in it working or not, likely not.

For example one I changed recently was module 1K0907379AN and pump 1K0614517BJ

The old one was 1K0907379AD with same pump number as the old one but I only used the AN because I was sure it was an uprated replaced for the AD

If you do this remember to save your ABS long coding.

Which fault code do you have, for the G201 pressure sensor?

Remember, just changing the part is only one part of the battle, getting the air out of the pump is another matter.

Im pretty sure the G201 fault doesnt give the handbrake light as a warning. Probably the 1130 fault.

No fault codes have been mentioned yet. But the g201 and 01130 are the most common. Scan it and see what it says.......
