    When I lock my car the tailgate is open
    When I unlock the car the tailgate is locked any ideas please mk4golf 2001

    Hi
    check the wiring loom between the top of the tailgate and the body on the nearside. Prise one end of the gaiter off the bod tans peel back.you should see a load of wires and certainly some will be badly twiste or broken. Fix with connectors and all will be well. Common fault as too many wire go through this route.
