Hi there, first time poster. Have been trying to find answers to these issues but I'm a bit stuck.

Girlfriend bought a 2004 MK5 Golf early last year from a dealer. It seems to have issues with its electrics as things are gradually getting worse. I'm not sure if these things are linked or not but I'll list them in order of happening. Any advice about fixing any of these issues individually would be definitely welcome.

    1. The driver's door doesn't lock when pressing the fob. I'm not sure if this is an issue or a feature activated by pressing the fob lock button four times in a row or something but in order to lock or unlock the driver's door you have to use the key.

    2. Driver's electric window occasionally goes in the wrong direction when the window has been open and you press and hold the button to close it. If you flick the button quickly the window will always close properly.

    3. The rear windscreen wiper has stopped working, this happened around the same time as the 'bulb warning' light came on.. all of the lights are working, indicators, brakes, the lot.

    4. Not long after no. 3 (possibly at the same time), the boot stopped opening. I haven't tried using the emergency latch to pop it open and then closed again to see if it has gotten stuck for whatever reason because I'm worried I wouldn't be able to close it again.

1 & 2 happened around a year ago and 3 & 4 happened within the last week. I am not sure if these are a case of plugging in a diagnostic tool and then trying to reset the computer, reprogram the fob, or checking for blown fuses, but I wanted to post here before I started messing around and making anything worse. I know from past experiences that many mechanics aren't massively experienced when it comes to the electrics and my girlfriend is considering getting a quote to have all the electrics done which I can't begin to imagine how that would be done or how much it would cost.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

The rear wiper not working would have nothing to do with the bulb light. Get a scan done to give you more clues. Number 1 is a failed locking module, very common.
