    Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and hope someone here has run into (and solved) the issue I'm about to describe.

I have a 2008 C6 2.0D (BRE engine code) with a CVT at around 50000miles. The CVT fluid was replaced at 40k.
Occasionally it get's itself into a weird state where the engine does not want want to drop below 1500rpm. This causes shuddering when CVT finds itself between gears and changes up and down. This is the only time it shudders and I believe it's the engine not wanting to slow down that's the issue. You can go into flappy paddle mode and the car seems normal, but when it drops into Drive, the symptom remains.
When you come to a stop, the engine then sits at 1000rpm; normal idle revs are below 1000rpm. Moving between D, R, N and S does not affect the idle revs.
Turning the car off and on again (yes I work in IT ) usually resolves the issue, but it can happen again.
I cannot consistently recreate the issue - it appears to be random.
There are no warning lights on the dash. I plugged a standard OBDii reader in and there were no error codes while the engine was in that state. I've not had access to a VCDS whilst in this mode, but a previous scan showed nothing engine/transmission related.

I am no car guru, but to me, this sounds very sensorish. Maybe even software?

I have seen this issue described in another forum, but no one ever posted a fix or whether it got fixed.

Look forward to hearing your opinions.

    Cheers.

You need a proper scan first.

Yes and if no codes are definitely stored on engine or box, it would be worth asking Audi if there is a software update. If there is no update the next step would be to have the fluid changed.
