I raised the driver's half of my front centre armrest lid to place something in the storage box and was subsequently unable to close the lid. It will go down most of the way, but then meets resistance and will go no further. The resistance is 'flexible' as opposed to a solid wall, but I'm not going to force it for fear of breaking something. Having examined the hinge and mechanism closely I cannot imagine what there is to go wrong.

I'm wondering if anyone one here has encountered and similar issue and can help with advice.

It's trivial, but it does interfere with moving the gear shift.

I've noticed one or two flimsy pieces of trim in this car (A8 four years old with 18,000 on the clock) such as the damper on the cup holder lid failing and a very flimsy setup in the rear folding centre armrest. Not inspiring for such an expensive car!

    Thanks for any help.

Thank you for replying. As a part is required, so clearly it's not just an easy fix, I'm wondering how much of the centre console needs to be removed?
