HI all, first post so I'll try to stick to the rules and regs.

Have only owned the car since Nov 2018, rear boot where the reg lamps are fitted are showing signs of rust (see pics) I have an appointment at VW Blackburn next week some time to bring it in and let the service manager have a look, I asked the chap about the process and he explained; (Service manager off on holiday till the 12th of August)

    1. Vehicle paint will be tested using a paint depth reader to get thickness of paint and to see if its the original paint or if the panel has been re-painted at any point.

    2. Whether the corrosion is from the outside only or vice versa.

    3. Has the car been fully serviced by VW ( don't understand that part questioned the chap and he to said it didn't make sense.)

    4. They will send report to VW and await response.

How much paint should a boot lid have, as i know certain areas of a car get more paint than other areas, also what is the minimum and maximum paint depth that VW accept. If I have this info to hand then I have a better chance of discussing it with the service manager rather than accepting everything he/she says.
My main concern is that other owners have mentioned that VW are aware of this issue of rust on the boot lid reg lamps area and have had replacement or repairs carried out, how do I need to go about this so that I don't end up leaving with a rusty backside.

If any further pics are required of the vehicle or other info on it let me know.

    Much appreciated.
