Gearbox problem ??

Hi to All,
2010 , A4B8 auto Quattro petrol, 44000 Klms.
I have been persisting with a jerky start when taking off from stationary position. If I am very very soft on the accelerator it seems in control, I mean painfully soft.
If I take off from rest up a small incline or down a slope there is no indication of this jerkiness. It appears that when there is some preload on the drive system, all seems better.
At registration time a mechanic suggested possible low on transmission fluid, although I am not dropping any oil. I believe the trans oil change is quite expensive, and at 44K a little early.
Moving very slowly in forward and in reverse is not at all smooth, as if there is MAJOR back lash in the tail shaft.

If I was a betting man, I would think that the turbo is cutting in too early, unlikely.

There is a big back lash problem somewhere.

And if it was a manual I would have a twisted ( worpted, that does not look right ) clutch plate.

Without further input from the Forum I will be off to the Dealers.

Hi John,

can you log your air and fuel with vcds? I had a 2010 petrol with a CVT box not sure what yours is. there are a few things which help maintain a good air fuel mix, air flow meter, lambdas, fuel filter, fuel pump. these may be easier to diagnose than the gearbox itself which i hope it isn't for you.
