    Hi Folks

I have a 2015 MK7 Golf 1.4 GT TSI and have tried to update the SD card (it is the original card that came with car) for the sat nav.

After DiscoverCare has made a back up and downloaded the updates it starts to install the updates onto SD card but after about 65% installation I get the following message -

Error during extraction of archive file

An error occurred during reading or saving the file into the specified folders

I have tried a couple of times to update but get the same error messages each time. Has this happened to anyone else and is there a way to solve this problem?

    Thanks

Actually, this kind of failure never happened to me, however this kind of error used to happen if:

    - there is not enough space on the SD card,
    - the SD card has a HW or formatting error (try to format it without the quick format option)
    - the downloaded file is corrupted (try againt to download the update)

I hope, one of the above clue will help you

Thanks for reply. At the moment I am downloading maps direct to my hard drive (1 hour and counting) and hopefully will be able to transfer them onto SD card. I am a bit reluctant to format the SD card as I have read that there is some sort of security feature on card and am worried incase formatting removes this security feature and sat nav with not recognise card.

Probably the security feature causes the error, but let's see something different:

If the download and extraction will be finished, then you will have a directory on your hard drive which will contain the maps. If the Audi SW will fail, simply copy the files from this directory to the SD card. If it can be done with the Explorer, than it will work in your car.

However, if this operation will fail, then you will get an exact system message about what causes the problem, like "write error", "not enough space" or something like this.

I hope that the new download and the installation will be fine, if not, please share here the error message.
