engine emissions control system warning light

Morning all,

I have had my engine emissions control system warning light come on and was wondering what the problem is more likly to be and is it ok to drive? or is it just the hot weather making come on?

It could be absolutely anything, you need a code read.

Depending on what the engine is and what the fault is, leaving it like that could turn a small sensor issue into a major bill by damaging other parts such as the exhaust after-treatment. Ignorance is not bliss...

Just an update for info, the light went off after 2 days but came back on about 10 days later then went off again about 2 days later, so took it to my local garage and there were no faults or errors recorded so have to take straight back if it comes back on.

Hi,

I'd be very surprised if the car doesn't have faults stored when the EML has been on. Does the local garage have the proper equipment to scan the car, or just a generic code reader? I would take it to an Audi specialist or to a dealer to have a proper scan done if it was me...

Yes it was supprising to the garage aswell! yes they are a local independant garage that specilises in VAG group cars so they have all the gear.

Just a follow up, the light came back on and took it to the garage which diagnosed an intermittant pressure sensor error, so now fixed :-)
