No, nothing amazing on the Audi app will be added even if you have a working data SIM, I know you probably want the remote lock/unlock or checking car status via app working, but unfortunately you will need to have a car with the eSIM for that to work, I think it was introduced in late 2016 models onwards?

The data SIM doesn't give you much - just online traffic, Audi Connect stuff (news, weather etc), google maps if you are using that, and of course hotspot.. Depending on your situation though, I found it much easier to get the car (and anybody in the car) to connect to my phone's hotspot so that I don't have to maintain/pay for another Data SIM just for the car..

Having said that, I have a Three "Internet with legs" SIM plugged in the car which gives me 200MB every month without having to pay, enough for the live traffic and Audi Connect stuff... but won't be enough for any hotspot.

Cheers. That was my suspicion. May as well tether my phone every time I get in the car then as that at least works

I’ve seen lots say the remote access stuff isn’t enabled in the UK. I think I’ve got the aux heating feature so being able to use that would be good.

I feel like I’m going to simply have to tether my phone and life with it at this rate. I will have had the car two months tomorrow.

    Proper first world issues right!
If you have an MY16 Q7 4M then you may not have remote access features. Normally Q7's that came with SOS and E-Call buttons in the headliner mean't that you most likely DO have Remote access features. If you dont have those buttons in your roof buttons, then chances are you dont. I dont have remote access features but I know a couple of the guys here do, so they may be better to comment on their "value"

UK doesn't get Aux Heater so you won't have that. So assuming you have a UK variant it won't exist sadly.

If you can confirm your MMI software level (go into your MMI and Settings / Version Information) we can see if it needs an update or not.

    Cheers

    Andy

    Thanks Andy
In the specs it says “electric auxiliary air heater” is that not what I thought it was?

I’m assuming the dealer updated the software but I will check when I’m next out at the car.

Yeah sorry AlphaPapaGolf. All Q7 4M's get the "Electric Auxiliary Air Heater" but your thinking of the Auxiliary Heater/Fuel-Fired Parking Heater which is a separate unit

Here is one for a LHD Variant for example. This is what UK spec'd Q7 4M's do NOT have.

You would know if you had it as the car keys also have a little digital display on them for setting the times the heater comes on etc but again, we dont get these nice car key variants in the UK.

    They look like this:

    2019-07-24_9-25-36.jpg

It can be retrofitted (I've seen the kits) but its pricey and IMO not really worth it. I think we dont get it as an option in the UK as they dont deem our country cold enough to warrant it.

    Hope this clarifies

    Andy

p..s Let me know your MMI software level. it should be 0976 but a newer version has just been released as part of a Campaign so they may have already applied that. I'm picking up a copy of it on Friday so I can see what its doing/changing.

    Hey Andy,

That looks like a separate remote just for the heating as it doesn't have lock/unlock buttons etc... if that's the case, that's a lot of bulk to add to the key ring haha..

Btw do you know what's new in the MMI update 1xxx?

    Thanks L

Yeah you defo need the update to 0976!!!! Get them to do that! It fixes a bunch of bugs. 0358 was the version that shipped when it left the factory!

Is there any chance my iPhone X is causing the conflict? I know I’ve tried it with it removed but it’s the only variable I can think of between me failing and then getting it to work once
